This is a role that comes with the Memorandum of Understanding that Graeme Dawson has signed with the Churches of the Yarra Valley on the Warburton Hwy.
It means that Graeme is on call for emergencies 24hrs per day to respond to the immediate needs of the community on behalf of the churches. He uses many church and community resources available to him and he keeps a data base of contacts and suppliers of a range of things from food parcels to petrol vouchers. In this role he may counsel people in an emergency or later by appointment or refer to a more appropriate person or authority. In this capacity he comes to the Chaplaincy at Worawa Aboriginal College and to the management and counselling role at Valley Care Counselling Service. This M of U also allows him to speak on local radio and in the local press on people-care subjects. Eg. on Sept 11 and it's first anniversary Graeme spoke on local radio, leading the community in reflection and prayers.
